Joe Cole left Peaky Blinders because ‘it’s Cillian Murphy’s show’


Joe Cole uncovers that one reason he left his job as John Shelby on Peaky Blinders was on the grounds that the Birmingham pack show focussed so intensely on Cillian Murphy's character. 


"With Peaky Blinders, I never truly escaped the doors in that job", he revealed to The Metro. "It's Cillian's show truly." 

Cole has the lead job of Sean Wallace in up and coming show Gangs of London due to show up on NOW TV and Sky Atlantic from April 23. 

Talking about why he was attracted to the part, the on-screen character stated: "This show is more group, it follows characters on a profound level." 

"So for me it's actually a chance to show what I can do and for the remainder of the cast, what they can do," he proceeded.

"The issue for me is they're the original bits of TV, correct? They're additionally American, isn't that so? Peaky Blinders is doing it in the UK now and I think this is, I think this is the one that is going to push the discussion ahead. 

"I simply feel extremely fortunate to be a piece of it." 

Coordinated by Gareth Evans (The Raid), Gangs of London follows Sean who sets about on a merciless and foolish quest for the men who executed his dad Finn Wallace, the boss of London's medication scene.
